CEMEX participates in housing project in Nicaragua which will benefit 143 families
CEMEX in Nicaragua has played an important role in a residence development program that aims to help the country’s housing deficit. The housing project, named Canada District 2nd Stage, is currently working on 143 residences, which will benefit 143 families.
“We are very proud to be a part of this project in which CEMEX, as a member of the private sector is working with the central and local government in a social interest project that will improve the quality of life of the residents of the community of San Rafael del Sur,” says Andrés Jiménez, President of CEMEX in Nicaragua.
Some of the residents of Canada District 2nd Stage will be CEMEX employees. In fact, 50 of them have already been selected to purchase a home there.
This housing district is a self-sustaining forward-looking program that will help people buy their own homes at an affordable price, offering credits at an interest rate that people can pay for. Dignified housing at a reasonable price is a long-term solution for housing issues in many developing nations.
The homes of Canada District 2nd Stage will have a size of 42 square meters which will include three bedrooms, a common area, and a bathroom. The project also will provide urbanization with paved roads and access to energy and clean water.
CEMEX constantly seeks solutions to the global problem of access to housing.
